Want to watch IPTV on your Roku in Ireland? This is the plain English guide to setting up IPTV Roku Ireland in 7 minutes. Install IBO Pro Player from the Roku Channel Store, send your MAC to our support agent on WhatsApp, watch.

On Roku the IPTV app is called IBO Pro Player (Roku uses the Apple-style naming). It is in the Roku Channel Store. No sideloading is possible on Roku (Roku does not allow it), so this is the only route. The whole job uses the Roku remote and the Roku Channel Store.

What you need before you start

  • A Roku Stick, Roku Express, or Roku TV (TCL, Hisense, Sharp Roku tellys). Most Rokus sold in Ireland and the UK work.
  • A Roku account signed in (the one you created when you set up the Roku).
  • Roku region set to Ireland, the UK, or another European country where the IBO Pro Player channel is available.
  • Wi-Fi or Ethernet on the Roku with at least 25 Mbps for HD sport.
  • Your BingeBear IPTV login (sent on WhatsApp inside 5 minutes).
  • 7 minutes.

The setup in four small steps

  • Open the Roku Channel Store and search for IBO Pro Player.
  • Add the channel to your Roku.
  • Open IBO Pro Player and photograph the first screen (MAC + Device Key).
  • Send the photo to our support agent on WhatsApp. They load your channel list. Re-open the app. Channels appear.

Quick check: is your Roku set to the right region?

The Roku Channel Store is region-locked. IBO Pro Player is available in Ireland, the UK, and most European regions but not in some US-only stores. Check yours:

  • Press the Home button on the Roku remote.
  • Scroll down to Settings.
  • Choose System.
  • Choose Advanced system settings.
  • Choose Region.
  • If it says Ireland, United Kingdom, or another European country, you are grand. If it says United States, change to Ireland or United Kingdom.

Cannot change Roku region? You will need to factory reset the Roku and create a new Roku account with an Irish or UK address. This is annoying but Roku locks the region to the account, not the device. New Roku account, new region.

Step 1: Open the Roku Channel Store and search for IBO Pro Player

  • Press the Home button on the Roku remote.
  • Scroll down the menu to Streaming Channels (the Roku Channel Store).
  • Choose Search Channels.
  • Type IBO Pro Player with the on-screen keyboard.

Step 2: Add the IBO Pro Player channel to your Roku

  • Click the IBO Pro Player listing.
  • Click Add channel.
  • Roku takes about 30 seconds to add the channel and download the app.
  • When it finishes, click Go to channel or press the Home button and find IBO Pro Player at the bottom of your channel list.

IBO Pro Player is now in your Roku channel list. You can move it to the top by long-pressing the asterisk button on the Roku remote and choosing Move channel.

Step 3: Photograph the MAC address and Device Key

  • Open IBO Pro Player from the Roku home screen.
  • The first screen shows: MAC address: like `00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX`
  • Device Key: 6 to 10 characters
  • Take a phone photo of the whole telly screen.

Roku has only one MAC address (no Wi-Fi vs Ethernet split on Roku Sticks; only Roku Ultra has Ethernet, and that uses a separate MAC). Whatever is shown is what our support agent needs.

Step 4: Send the photo to our support agent

  • WhatsApp the photo to our support agent. Tell them "Roku".
  • They load your playlist on the IBO Pro Player provider portal against your Roku's MAC.
  • Close IBO Pro Player fully (press Home).
  • Re-open IBO Pro Player. Channel list, EPG, films and sport appear.

How IBO Pro Player activation works on Roku

7-day free trial after the playlist loads. After that, the in-channel purchase asks for a one-off device activation of around €7 to €10. Paid through Roku Pay using the card on your Roku account. Per Roku, paid once, lasts forever on that device.

Troubleshooting IPTV on Roku

1. IBO Pro Player not in the Roku Channel Store

Your Roku region is set to a country where the channel is not available. Settings then System then Advanced system settings then Region. Set to Ireland or United Kingdom. If the region setting is greyed out, you may need to factory reset and recreate the Roku account with an Irish or UK address.

2. Roku is too slow to install the channel

Older Rokus (Roku Express 2017 and earlier) take 1-2 minutes to install a new channel. Leave it. If it stalls completely, restart the Roku (Settings then System then System restart).

3. "Invalid MAC" after Step 4

Re-photograph and resend. Roku displays MACs cleanly so this is rare.

4. Channels buffer on Roku Wi-Fi

Roku Sticks have weaker Wi-Fi than the Firestick or an Android box. Try one of:

  • Upgrade to Roku Ultra (it has an Ethernet port).
  • Buy a Roku Stick Ethernet adapter (around €15).
  • Move the Roku closer to the router (the HDMI extender that comes with the Stick helps).
  • Switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi if your router supports it.

5. Programme guide is blank for the first hour

Normal. EPG takes 5 to 10 minutes the first time on Roku.

6. Channel disappeared after Roku auto-updated

Sometimes Roku purges third-party channels in firmware updates. Re-add IBO Pro Player from the Channel Store. The activation is still locked to your Roku's MAC, so no re-purchase needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best IPTV app for Roku in Ireland in 2026?

IBO Pro Player from the Roku Channel Store is the only good option for Irish IPTV on Roku. Smart IPTV is also on Roku but tends to be less reliable.

Do I need a Firestick if I have a Roku?

No. Roku does the same job through IBO Pro Player. Roku is actually more user-friendly than Firestick for older Irish customers because the interface is simpler.

How much does IBO Pro Player cost on Roku?

Free for 7 days, then a one-off device activation of around €7 to €10 via Roku Pay. Per Roku, paid once.

Can I sideload an IPTV app on Roku?

No. Roku does not allow sideloading on consumer devices. The Channel Store is the only route.

What about Roku Express vs Roku Stick vs Roku Ultra?

All run IBO Pro Player the same way. Roku Express is the cheapest (around €30) and fine for SD viewing. Roku Stick handles 1080p HD comfortably. Roku Ultra has Ethernet, faster Wi-Fi, and 4K support: the best option for HD sport.

Can I watch GAA, Premier League and Sky Sports on Roku?

Yes, your BingeBear plan includes those feeds. Most Irish IPTV services do.

Will my Roku get blocked for using IPTV?

No. IBO Pro Player is an officially-approved Roku channel. Streaming IPTV through it is no different to streaming Netflix.

Once IBO Pro Player is installed on your Roku

You should be at the MAC + Device Key screen. Two things need to happen before the channels appear:

  • Playlist loaded against that MAC on the IBO Pro Player provider portal.
  • Device activated after the 7-day free trial (around €7 to €10 via Roku Pay).
